Police Allegedly Arrest APC’s Social Media Handler In Zamfara

Operatives of the Zamfara State Police Command’s Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) have allegedly arrested one Mugira Yusuf, suspected to be a handler of social media handles of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at Anguwar Dallatu in Gusau, the state capital.
A source told LOCKDOWNNAIJA that Mugira was at the shop of one of his friends, Sufiyanu Sani Gusau popularly known as Sufi, when somebody who came out of the Zamfara State Government House started making some suspicious phone calls.

The source explained that when Sufi noticed the suspicious way in which the Government House official was making calls, he observed that there was a problem and the owner of the shop allegedly advised Mugira to take his leave.

“Though Mugira insisted knowing why he had to leave, but his friend insisted he should leave, yet he refused to leave but after a heated argument, Mugira took a bike and left the shop,”

He said.

According to him, later, Mugira returned, asking his friend to tell him the reason he was insisting that he leave the business center.

The source noted that while the argument between Mugira and the shop owner was still on, a Hilux van full of police operatives stopped in front of the shop and took Mugira to an unknown destination.

Some residents of Anguwar Dallatu, who witnessed the incident, said the man who masterminded the arrest of Mugira left instantly and drove to the state Government House.

LOCKDOWNNAIJA gathered that Mugira Yusuf is a strong political supporter of the APC faction being led by former Governor Abdul Aziz Yari and has been a constant critic of the current government of Bello Mohammed Matawalle since 2019.

The command’s Spokesman, SP Shehu Mohammed, could not be reached for comment on the matter.
